Karla Guerrero's Short Story Porposal

Exposition: This story takes place in Berkeley, Ca about a teenager named Jose he falls in love with a new girl in the tennis club. This story also take part of coming of age when his older brother is send to Iraq and has to take care of his ill mom while his dad is traveling as a social worker.

Inciting Incident: The first incident occurs when he first saw his true love at tennis camp, he walks up to talk to her but she ignores Jose. When he arrives home he see's his mother crying in the bedroom while his father was trying to figure things out with the General over the phone, his dad explains Jose that his brother has gone missing after a car exploded in afganistan. Jose is anguished with the loss of his brother hoping he is still alive.

Rising Action: Jose meets up with his best friend Nate at Tilden park where they were shooting birds. Nate gives Jose some advice of how he could try and speak with Sarah, so he could get to know her. Nate tells Jose to try to meet with her since she lives two blocks ahead of Jose.

Climax: Jose follows Nate's advice and tries to walk with Sarah to practice, as he gets to Sarah he asks her if she wanted to walk together. Sarah forcefully puts a note on jose's hand saying that she can't speak but will love to walk with you to practice. As Jose finds out that Sarah is deaf. He see that he has a chance to be with her. Jose takes sign language classes so he can communicte with Sahra.

Falling Action: Jose's parents had news that his brother was found and wanted to move to Oceanside, Ca where his brother is hospitalized in the U.S Naval Base. Jose was upset he didn't want to leave Sarah he had a feeling that she like him too, but Jose loves his brother he couldn't decide.
