Skyler Forrest Short Story Proposal
Exposition: First person perspective of a 25-year old man with chronic depression caused by traumatic encephalopathy from numerous repeated concussions. Story starts with him waking up in bed.
Inciting Accident: He has a mental run-through of his own life, including his football career, and his short-lived three year professional stint before it was ended by his numerous concussions, and a couple of flashbacks of blurred memories.
Rising Action: He goes into deep thought about what he would do with the rest of his life, and the relationships that he has built and sustained that were destroyed.
Climax: His conscience is able to persuade him that he no longer has a meaningful purpose in his life, that he has not only let down everyone that believed in him but himself as well.
Resolution: He commits suicide.
i feel like you took the easy way out on the resolution, which is fine. but how does he commit suicide? and 25 year old is young for this which is cool too. by the way, if he wakes up in bed, does he commit suicide in bed? or does it do over a long span of time?
ReplyDeleteI like how you chose to write about something with a sad ending. You might try adding a theme or a message about self worth or life to make your story have more meaning.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually really interesting. I'm excited to see his reflection on where his life went wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe plot seems interesting. However, I feel that the time span of the story is a bit short. I suggest that you expand more a bit on his past career and how he was involved in a series of concussions.
ReplyDeleteI like the plot a lot but I think you should give more detail about the main character.
