EXPOSITION: Halley has just moved to Miami, Florida and is desperate to make friends at Mc. Dollys high school.
INCITING INCIDENT: Halley loves hanging out with Brittney, Sophie, and Kyra.One day during lunch they ask her to put a thumbtack on Brians chair nicknamed " The nerd" by everyone. Halley is a very nice person and does not want to do this but if she doesnt her new friends would say shes not cool enough to hang out with them.
RISING ACTION: Halley wants to be friends with Brittney, Sophie, and Kyra so one Tuesday right before the bell rings for class Halley slips a thumbtack onto Brian's chair. The teacher makes the class do a standing up activity and afterwards they all sit down to take a math quiz. Brian gets up to sharpen his pencil and when he sits down hes howling and jumping up and down. The teacher demands to know who put the thumbtack on Brian's chair. Halley confesses that she was the one.
CLIMAX: Halley apologizes to Brian and Brian says something to her that makes her cry, " You know, I actually thought you were a pretty nice person". The teacher sends her to the principles office and her parents are phoned that night. They were pretty upset. The next day Halley told Brittney, Sophie, and Kyra what happened. They said that wimp deserved it. Halley says it wasnt a very nice thing to do. Halley has found out that they have been using her this whole time just to get away with bad things. Halley decides those arent the kinds of people she really wants to be friends with.
RESOLUTION: Halley has found friends who appreciate the good person she really is and Halley vows that never again will she hang out with people cool or not that make her do things that arent good things.
I like how Halley realizes that she needs to get new friends and that she deserves better, but I don't get why the high school would make such a big deal out of the thumbtack.
